The theme of the logo is based on 3 elements.
The Yogi in the logo represents anyone who practises the Noble Eightfold Path according
to the Buddha's teachings can attain enlightenment. The small circle near the abdomen
represents the observation of the arising and disappearing of the breath by the yogi, who
establishes his mindfulness leading to higher insight knowledge.
The eight lotus petals surrounding the Yogi represent the Noble Eightfold Path. The
practice of the Noble Eightfold Path rests mainly on the observance of morality(sila), the
practice of meditation and the acquisition of wisdom. If sila is observed with dedication,
one is practising right speech, right action and right livelihood. When one meditates, one
is practising right effort, right mindfulness and right concentration. Meditation for
insight is vipassanna bhavana, which encourages right views and right thoughts.
To acquire insight knowledge, one practises vipassana meditation based on the Four
Foundations of Mindfulness as taught by the Buddha which is the contemplation of the body,
feelings, consciousness and Dhamma. This is the only way that will lead one to nibbana,
the end of suffering and the destruction of mental defilements. Since the Four Foundation
of Mindfulness is the basis of Satipatthana, it is used as a foundation for the Yogi. |
